Summer Reads • Julia Reed

Beach-Reads-DiCorcia-Interior-Design-NY-NJTo Billy’s delight, I much prefer reading over watching TV before bed – giving him full control over the clicker! I really enjoy a casual funny read during the Summer to accompany me on the beach or by the pool (although I just finished this book last week, and loved it!). I recently devoured new-to-me author, Julia Reed’s Ham Biscuits, Hostess Gowns and Other Southern Treasures over a weekend and quickly moved onto But Mama Always But Vodka in Her Sangria (and will be using her Sangria recipe this weekend!). They were both fabulous! A modern-day hostess with the mostest, Julia provides wonderful insight on entertaining with Southern charm. Her adventures in eating, cooking and libations had me laughing alone on the beach (slightly embarrassing) and I haven’t been let down by her recipes scattered throughout both books! Looking forward to cracking into Queen of the Turtle Derby this weekend!

Have you read any of Julia Reed’s books? I’ve been having a great time trying my hand at Southern cuisine! What have you been reading this summer? I’d love to know, I’m always on the hunt for something new!

  1. Always looking for new summer reads, and, as an avid lover of Rebecca Wells, Julia Reed sounds right up my alley. Thanks for sharing! (My book club will be thanking you too) 🙂
