Bobby-Flay-and-Stephanie-March-Amagansett-Home-via-DiCorcia-Design-NY-NJAs much as I adore color, when it comes to kitchens I’m usually a white cabinets kinda gal. They immediately brighten up even the smallest of rooms, provide the perfect blank canvas for a multitude of design styles and make costly kitchen renovations more viable for resale. But lately I’ve been having a little love affair with painted cabinets. I came across Bobby Flay and Stephanie March’s Amagansett home in this month’s Elle Decor and was instantly smitten! The custom-made cabinets painted in Benjamin Moore’s Majestic Blue are just the loveliest hue, and I adore how the color pairs with the Thomas O’Brien brass pendants and slate backsplash. The French bistro chairs and tables add the perfect amount of charm paired with the modern cabinets, although I’m not too sure how I feel about the arrangement. I  would have preferred to see a long rectangular table of the same style in the duo’s place, providing a bit more intimacy. The pair feels too restaurant-like for me, but Mr. Flay is a chef after all!

What’s your feeling on painted kitchen cabinets? They a great way to spruce up an old kitchen on a budget!

  1. if I was making Bobby + Steph money I’d totally paint my cabinets a color, because then I could afford to paint them white when I got tired of it in a year 😉 If I went with a color It would have to be dark green or blue. Something totally classic but devilishly dark.
