I’ve been working on my parent’s beach house the past few weeks, and while the project is no where near complete, I couldn’t resist sharing a snapshot of the living room with y’all. The objective for the space was to create a cozy comfortable atmosphere where nothing is too precious, and friends and family can unwind. The slipcovered Pottery Barn sofas just arrived and my parents couldn’t be more pleased! They’re perfectly relaxed, and if a few too many sandy feet come across their path replacement covers are so much more affordable than custom slipcovers or replacing the sofas entirely. I’ve been crushing on the linen Ikea curtains for some time, and the classic pattern is in my mom’s favorite color palette accompanied by a very attainable price tag. I’m having them lined this week with blackout fabric to make the design pop and provide privacy when needed. Accompanied by pretty white wood finials, curtain rings, rods and brackets from Lowes, the windows will have a custom look for a fraction of the price.
I tossed in some mis-matching pillows in complementary colors from Ikea (1,2) and Costco (similar), and scored the trunk coffee table half-off at a floor sample sale. The wingback seagrass chair has an updated classic look that my mom adores, and the seagrass stools can replicate the comfortability of a chaise-sectional while adverting the permanence of the trendy design. I’m still waiting on the rug along with several additional pieces of furniture to arrive and artwork needs to be hung, but I’m really excited how everything is pulling together!
