On My Nightstand • Where’d You Go, Bernadette

On-My-Nightstand-DiCorcia-Interior-Design-NY-NJI’m kind of a huge nerd in that, if I’m reading a really good book, I’ll stay up until 2:00 AM and fall asleep with the light on – I’m usually asleep no later than 10:00 PM (guess I’m kind of nerdy in that respect too!). It’s a bad habit I’ve had since childhood, having been reprimanded on many occasions for reading at the dinner table while trying to conceal a book in my lap.

I recently tore through new-to-me author Maria Semple’s Where’d You Go, Bernadette in two days flat. Semple’s wit, imagination and perspective on the private school-obsessed, neurotically eco-conscious, TED-talking community in upper-crust Seattle is brilliantly hilarious! It was fabulous read, and at 330 pages I really need to get some sleep tonight!

Have you read any good books lately? I’m always on the hunt for something new!

  1. I did the same thing with Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan, only I usually go to sleep around midnight so I stayed up until 4am one night to finish it (and badly regretted it the next morning)!

I’ve heard such great things about Where’d You go Bernadette I think I’ll read that one next – I’m currently reading Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowler and although it’s really good, I can’t seem to get into it as much.
