Overcast weather continued for most of the weekend, so on Sunday we hopped on the ferry and headed over to Shelter Island for a little day trip. We had the pleasure of visiting two very different hotels, both equally as fabulous!
First up was La Maison Blanche for brunch.
We dined on a delicious French brasserie-style menu in the garden, which was unbelievably charming! With only 8 rooms on the entire property, I’d imagine overnight guests have an amazingly intimate experience!
Next we headed down the road to Sunset Beach (an André Balazs property) for a few cocktails. The 20-room boutique hotel boasts a hip, laid-back atmosphere with a beachy St. Tropez vibe.
The lively crowd made for some interesting people watching, and the restaurant and bar is apparently quite the scene – although I’d expect nothing less from the man behind the Standard and Mercer Hotels! Complete with bocce ball courts, ping-pong tables, stone fire pits and a white sandy beach; the property isn’t short of activities – so much so I forgot to take more pictures, oops!
The ambience and crowds at each hotel could not have been more different – we joked we’d traveled from the French countryside at La Maison Blanche down to the French Riviera at Sunset Beach, all while in the Hamptons!
