Saturday night we headed to one of my favorite restaurants on the island, Topping Rose House – and in true form, Mr. Colicchio did not disappoint!

Sunday mornings out east are always spent with my dad, hitting up the local farmers markets for our Sunday feast! Our little princess Bella turned 10, so we stopped by Iacono to pick up a few chickens for our own dinner, and to provide Bella with a celebratory treat of chicken and rice (crazy, I know!). Billy and I also hit up new-to-us Montauk Brewing Company for a beer tasting – which we both highly recommend! My mom and I scoped out the Montauk Art Show, where I fell in love with this gorgeous creations of Tail Feathers jewelry line (the emerald and onyx bracelet can be found here!).

Hope you all have been enjoying the summer weather! xo

Get The Look • Easy Breezy

{click on the + symbols to take you directly to the product}

My job affords me the opportunity to dress pretty casually on most days, and in the summer this usually entails a breezy dress, or maxi skirt and simple tank. Since I hate being cold, I always have a light summer scarf and little denim jacket or vest with me (or in my car); which really comes in handy when walking into those overly air-conditioned stores and restaurants – why they insist on pumping their air conditioners into the low 60°’s is beyond me?!

Do you have a summer uniform of sorts?

Top 5 • Coastal-Inspired Decor Motifs

As a designer, the notion “vacation is a state of mind” really fascinates me. I for one absolutely adore traveling, and would likely take off to a different local every other week if time and money afforded the opportunity. Seeing as said situation is unlikely, a couple years ago I decided to bring a few vacation-inspired elements into our home so that everyday felt like a little holiday! During the summer months, this includes coastal-inspired decor motifs. And it’s all in the details – from tropical destinations to weekend beach retreats, these five elements are what make up coastal-inspired rooms!

Summer Traditions • Picnics & Fireworks

{click on the + symbols to take you directly to the product}

One of the things I love most about living so close to the beach are the weekly firework shows during the summer months – it’s always a celebration! Billy and I usually pack up dinner in our picnic basket, and head down to the beach early to ensure prime real estate!

What are some of your favorite summer traditions?

Design Crush • Kara Rosenlund’s Perfect Imperfections

I tend to be a bit of a neat freak, always tidying up, making sure everything is in its “place”. But after spending the better half of last night sorting through Kara’s portfolio, it really made me appreciate how perfect subtle little imperfections can be!

Style Profile • The Summer Sweater

As much as I love playing around with different fashion trends, I tend to be a creature of habit, and when I find something I love I wear it constantly! I fell in love with the FP cardigan pictured above this past spring, and after dropping a few subtle hints (in the form of daily emails, ha!), Billy “surprised” me with it for my birthday. I wore it all Spring long, and it has since made it’s way into my summer wardrobe, being the perfect lightweight sweater for chilly nights by the beach or draped over a bikini. I’m quite sure it will accompany me into fall as well!

Are there any items in your closet you wear constantly?

While my relatively fair complexion isn’t typically complimentary to large doses of neon, my week off treated me to a little glow, and the brightly colored hues have been on the top of my wish list lately! While I’m not going to make it a regular staple in my closet or home, I think a few well placed pops would be really fun!

Happy Friday! Any fun weekend plans?

Apologies for the radio silence this past week, I hadn’t intended on taking such a long hiatus! I must admit, unplugging for a bit was just what I needed! I feel refreshed, inspired and ready to get started on a few new exciting projects! I headed out East last weekend for some much needed time with a few of my girlfriends. We lounged on the beach by day, enjoyed some spectacular sunsets, hit up some of our favorite restaurants and usually finished things off with a little nightcap at The Surf Lodge. Of course, in traditional girltime form, we made sure to support the local economy, hitting up all our favorite boutiques – Serena & Lily is never to be missed, I just adore their new floor set!

Billy was supposed to arrive upon my friends departure on Wednesday. But with Hurricane Arthur’s path threatening to hit the East-coast, and with our own home so close to the water, we decided it was best I head back home. Like many of you fellow East-coasters, I was totally bummed the storm was ruining our 4th of July plans. Luckily the potential hurricane took it easy on us this time around, humbly resulting in only one day of rain! Seeing as both of us had already taken the time off work, we created a little staycation for ourselves – lounging by the pool, indulging in lots of alfresco dining, nightly walks on the beach to admire the fireworks and we found two new favorite spots for dinner and drinks. I must admit, I never really considered taking a staycation before this one unexpectedly happened upon us, but Billy and I both enjoyed it so much we plan on making an annual “trip” of it!

I hope you all had a fabulous week, I’m so looking forward to catching up!

With the he beach only a few miles away and the pool in the backyard, I find myself switching out my usual undergarments for a bandeau and hipster on weekend mornings. I like to coordinate said swimsuit with a easy pieces, like this romper and kimono, seamlessly transitioning from waterside escapades to happy hour cocktails or a casual dinner at one of my favorite restaurants.
