I have a serious competitive streak, and just love the strategy behind the game paired with a good punch of luck, rendering it challenging but much more easy going than a game of chess {especially after a piña colada or two!}.

I started researching backgammon sets when we got home and was surprised to learn what a huge colt following it has – dating all the way back to 3500 B.C.! I have a cheesy plastic set that we’ve been playing with, but am in the market for something a little more refined that can be left out in the living room. I’m still up in the air if I want a backgammon table solely dedicated to the game, or a set which would be a little more mobile. This one, this one and this one are my current top contenders, and here’s a few more I’m contemplating:

Serena & Lily Diamond Backgammon Set // Pierrepont Hicks Backgammon Set
Oomph Backgammon Table // Rampli Backgammon Set
Gree Velour Lexington Avenue Backgammon Set // Ostrich Leather Backgammon Set
Jonathan Adler Backgammon Set // Alexandra Llewellyn Bespoke Backgammon Set

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Design Crush • Celerie Kemble’s Beach House

Since inhabitants don’t live there year-round, you can really go all out with a theme – nautical, Palm Beach chic, Aspen chalet, Moroccan riad, etc.

I was flipping through this month’s Vogue, and fell head-over-heels for this Dominican Republic home belonging to famed interior designer, Celerie Kemble, and her family. The property itself is actually a cluster of bungalows, each belonging to individual shareholders, centered around the communal clubhouse (featured in the 1st and 3rd photo). While the combination of intricate lattice work (called tragaluz), copper palms, seashell studded walls and Dominican tile may become a little tiresome for most people’s day-to-day; it makes for the ideal escape into vacation!

A boutique hotel is slotted for the property’s future – wonder if Kemble will have a hand in that as well?!
