I eagerly anticipate Shopbop’s spring Friends and Family sale every April, and I’m not gonna lie – I’ve been adding to my cart for quite some time!
- Easy breezy dresses are a staple in my wardrobe once the warm weather hits – add a cute open back and I’m sold! This one would be ideal for shopping or thrown over a bikini, and this one is perfect for a night out!
- If you had asked me 5 years ago, I was a heels girl all the way! But nowadays I’m in flats more and more, which is how I’m totally justifying three pairs of sandals – one for the pool/beach, one for day and one for night (although I really love these too – which ones should I go for?).
- This eyelet skirt paired with these fabulous oversized studs would be perfect for Easter brunch!
- L*Space bikinis are one of my go-to brands for the impeccable fit – this cut top is my favorite!
- I’ve been lusting after this bag for a while, it really would be ideal for running errands or grabbing dinner drinks with friends. I think it’s time to bite the bullet (there’s only a few left!).

When I was little, my mom dressed my sister and I up in matching tartan dresses for Christmas, with my brother in a matching tie – much to his digress! I loved the festiveness of our outfit selections, and thus Christmastime always has me craving a little tartan or plaid in my wardrobe. While my sister and I won’t be in coordinating outfits this year (at least not intentionally, as we do that inadvertently on occasion) I think these plaid trousers would perfectly satisfy my nostalgic itch!
Isn’t it funny how the holidays have us craving certain colors and patterns – especially ones that we wouldn’t typically be drawn to the rest of the year?! I’m very much a traditionalist, so red and green is right up my alley. What’s your holiday color/pattern preferences?
Between weddings, baby showers and bridal showers our Summer calendar is packed! I used to plan on buying one dress at the beginning of the season and pair it with different accessories to change it up a for every event. But truth be told this has never actually happened! What’s appropriate for a night wedding is not always appropriate for a day wedding, and between Facebook and Instagram (follow me here and here!) every event is so heavily documented I’m usually sick of said dress by the next weekend. So in the interest of saving some money this wedding season I’m going to buy 2-3 dresses in coordinating colors, borrow a few from my sister and friends, and pair them with the same group of accessories.
Wedges aren’t a typical choice to accompany wedding attire, but I’ve spent one too many cocktail hours sinking into sod and have learned my lesson! The metallic strap dresses-up these DVF Opal sandals (and cheaper here $147.49) just perfectly! Paired with some simple gold bangles ($287), statement earrings ($90) and wear-with-everything summer clutch ($198) – both my looks are complete!
Day Dress: Trina Turk Arnargosa Dress (Buy: $458, Rent: $100)
Night Dress: DVF Machava Cut Out Shift (and here – $325)
Has anyone every tried Rent The Runway? I am dying to test it out!
I adore sporting gauzy white cotton dresses in the Summer months, but by the end of the season damn deodorant stains have left them seeing better days. I usually dye my white garments to keep them in rotation for the following year, but spending a decent amount of cash knowing this process will inevitably happen still agitates me. I recently stumbled upon this great dress and at $34.94 (plus Old Navy coupons that are almost always available!) it was a no brainer! The picture really doesn’t do it justice – the top is pretty little Swiss-dots and to bottom has lovely white eyelet that skims the floor. It’s fully lined and the fit is pretty perfect!
Old Navy Strapless Eyelet Maxi Dress $34.95 // Juicy Couture Palm Print Scarf $58 // Loren Hope Malachite Sunburst Studs $36 // Calypso Selmi Leather Bracelet $65 // Calypso Yellow Brown Kiss Kiss Bracelet $25 // Calypso Jade Bead Bracelet $95 // Madewell Drawstring Bucket Bag $148 // Target Sam & Libby Double Strap Lime Sandal $22.99
After the unseasonably cold weather this past weekend I am dying to spend a few days lounging by the pool, and with forecasts in the 80°’s and 90°’s the next few days it looks like I just might get my chance (fingers crossed)! This fabulous pagoda umbrella ($340) would certainly set the mood for a Palm Beach chic kinda day, especially when accompanied by this adorable citrus swimsuit $64 and lovely fedora ($320). Of course a bar cart ($515) is a must and this beauty would glide outdoors with ease. Mrs. Lilien’s Cocktail Swatchbook ($11.65) is one of my go-to’s for warm weather libations and these flamingo cocktail stirrers ($4.75) add the perfect touch! Now all I need is for mother nature to cooperate!
Memorial Day is one of my favorite holidays! In addition to honoring the brave men and women who risked so much to keep us safe, it also unofficially announces the beginning of summer! In honor of the holiday I’ll be posting all things red, white and blue this week.
I’m heading to my parent’s beach house for the holiday, so first up – what I’d like to be wearing en route. This outfit would make the long ride out much more enjoyable, especially when followed by a glass of rose and raw oysters upon arrival!
Juicy Couture Wide Brimmed Sun Hat $34.99 (on sale!) //Anthropologie Neo-Gingham Crossback Tee $58 // J.Crew Rope Sailor Shorts $78 // K Jacques St. Tropez Sandals $280 // C. Wonder Anchors Away Ring Set $38 // Nautical iPad Mini Case $44.95 // Essie Geranium Nail Polish $7.79 // J.Crew Globe-Trotter Suitcase $1,750
Do you have any plans for the holiday weekend?
Our summer concert schedule is coming along nicely, including GoogaMooga this Saturday. Making a solid outfit choice is key to maintaining an enjoyable day, unpractical decisions (despite how cute they be) never turn out well!
This breezy maxi dress (cheaper here – not sure why?) is pretty perfect, and a thick leather belt will cinch the waist just right to distract from all the delectable food and drink that will be consumed! I’ll need a big tote to store my shades and hat when the sun goes down, along with a stylish fouta towel to use as a picnic blanket or throw over my shoulders if it gets chilly. Since I’ll be on my feet all day really comfortable shoes is a must! These summer booties from Target are adorable and at $34.99 I won’t be distraught if they get a little muddy. I’d finish off the look with a cute gold cuff for a bit of a bohemian vibe, and OPI’s My Chihuahua Bites – one of my favorite summer colors!
Anyone attend GoogaMooga last year? This is our first time, would love to hear your thoughts!
Our pool is opening this week and I am beyond excited! Summer is my favorite season for fashion and even though temperatures have been in the 60’s and 70’s all week, I can’t stop thinking about my poolside must-haves.
Bandeau bikini tops are my jam and this Mara Hoffman getup is so good! I don’t typically spend a lot of dough on bathing suits – frequent days on the beach and pool lounging leaves them unwearable by the end of the season – but I may have to make an exception for this one. And can we discuss how amazing this cover-up is?! Such a steel at $56 and wait until you see the back – I would totally wear it as a dress accompanied by these sandals! A chic sun hat and oversized shades are a must, and baby sunscreen works great on my super sensitive skin and lasts forever (I literally have to scrub it off in the shower!). I’d finish off the look with a fresh mani pedi in mint – one of my favorite shades – and gold bracelet for a little bling.
What’s on your summer wish list?
I’m game for any holiday that requires festive food and colorful attire! We’re cooking up a little taco bar on Sunday in honor of Cinco de Mayo, and weather permitting we’ll be dining alfresco and drinking my new favorite margaritas! As you may have figured out – I love pattern and bright colors, so realistically you could find me wearing this outfit any day of the week!
H&M Hat // Ray-Ban Aviators // Billabong Austin Rays Top (on sale!) // Loren Hope Alex Necklace // Chan Lu Beaded Wrap Bracelet // Essie Love and Acceptance Nail Polish // J Brand Maverick Cargo Jeans // Mar Y Sol Havana Tote // Zara Ethnic Flat Sandals
If you don’t already know, J.Crew’s 25% off everything sale started yesterday and is going through this upcoming Sunday! I shop at J.Crew pretty frequently, but their price tags are a little steep in my opinion, which is why I almost never buy anything full price and LOVE these sales!
For Work: I’ve been eyeing these cropped chinos for weeks and am obsessed! When I meet with clients I like to match by design aesthetic, dressing casually put-together. I would pair the pant’s with a chambray shirt and floral linen scarf, but the crop’s would also look smashing with the Blythe silk blouse for a dressier event or work environment. I am a big-bag girl from 9-5 due to the copious amount of items I “need” to carry around, and a navy satchel has been on my wish list (I also love this one). I would finish off the look with a classic pair of earrings and sandals, which I guarantee would get a ton of use!
For Play: Another item I have been majorly coveting is this scalloped shift – the color and shape are absolute perfection! Our social calendar is filling up pretty quickly with lots of outdoor soirees on the horizon. Accompanied by a pair of airy ballet flats (that mimic the scalloping on the dress!), the shift would transition beautifully from backyard BBQ’s to cocktail parties by the pool. I avoid sunning my face like the plague, so this big floppy hat would be a chic addition to my 70 SPF stored in this wear-with-everything cork clutch. As much as I love wearing big chunky jewelry, I am not a fan of sporting it outside in the heat, so a simple tassel necklace and mint stone bracelet would polish off my look.
Are there any J.Crew items you are currently coveting? Do you typically buy items on the spot or wait it out for a good sale?
